Counter-Strike 2 Latest Update: New Features and the Molotov Bug

May 8, 2025 | 0 comments

Recent Counter-Strike 2 Update

The latest update for Counter-Strike 2, which was rolled out recently, has been a subject of discussion in the gaming community. Some players have reported encountering a couple of serious bugs in the game. The most significant one, also known as the Molotov Bug, interferes with the gameplay involving smoke grenades and Molotovs.

This bug causes a significant problem because it compromises the competitive aspect of the game. Numerous videos posted on the internet show players exploiting this bug to gain an upper hand in the game. They achieve this unfair advantage by using Incendiary Grenades or Molotovs which allows them to see through smoke.

The May 7-8, 2025 Update

The update for Counter-Strike 2, on May 7, 2025, is often referred to as the “Mission Possible” update. This update implemented numerous new characteristics and modifications to the game.

Features of the Weekly Missions System

– The main or play menu now includes Weekly Missions.
– On a weekly basis, players receive a mission which is valid for 7 days.
– Completing missions furnishes players with XP, which helps them level up at a faster pace.
– The missions are displayed as a bright blue banner on the left side of the player’s screen, complete with a progress bar and countdown timer.

Changes to the Map Pool

– The game no longer includes the community maps of Basalt, Edin, Palais, and Whistle in all modes.
– The update adds new community maps, such as Jura, Grail, and Agency, to the Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes.
– Wingman mode now includes Dogtown and Brewery.
– The developers have also reorganized the Casual and Deathmatch map groups as follows:
– Defusal Group Alpha now includes Dust 2, Mirage, Inferno, and Vertigo.
– Defusal Group Delta now consists of Train, Anubis, Ancient, Overpass, and Nuke.
– The Community Map Group includes Jura, Grail, and Agency.
– The Hostage Group comprises of Office and Italy.

Additional Improvements

– Players can now adjust the “Main Menu Ambience Volume” to lower menu noise.
– The developers have resolved an issue with the “/” key binds.
– The handling of party invites from blocked Steam users has been enhanced.

Although the information about the updates made to the game is thorough, the bug discussed in the initial part of this discussion does not seem to be a result of the updates rolled on May 7, 2025. This game-breaking bug is not mentioned anywhere in the search results pertaining to the aforementioned update. This inconsistency indicates that the bugs are not tied to the “Mission Possible” update.
