Introduction to Cobblestone Map in Counter-Strike

Cobblestone, also identified as de_cbble, is a spacious map found in Counter-Strike. The map is designed to favor individuals who are proficient in the use of long-range weapons and those who are familiar with alternative routes, sniper nests, and diverse map angles. This manual provides an in-depth understanding of different parts of the map, including typical strategies, and how to capitalize on both terrorist and counter-terrorist roles efficiently.

Unique Features of the Cobblestone Map

Popular for its vast open spaces and long sightlines, Cobblestone offers an upper hand to snipers. Key weapons to consider while using this map are sniper rifles and assault rifles. It stands as one of the most unique maps in Counter-Strike due to its distinct features such as: long rotation paths assigned to each team, multiple potential contact areas within small choke points, chances for the CT players to fall back, and a likely T-sided gameplay due to difficulty in taking control over certain parts specifically, the Drop.

Initial Control Areas of Each Team

Each team is given different control areas from the beginning based on timing and balance factors. Certain areas are initially under the control of Counter-Terrorists (CTs), while others remain disputed. Middle area (Mid) is officially under CT control at the start due to time occurrence, but often it’s given up as it’s challenging to defend and becomes less strategically crucial when CTs get firm control over the A-Long area.

Strategies for Teams

CT side strategies include various setup options to defend the bomb sites. Special attention is required to hold the Drop area due to its historical difficulty. It also offers opportunities for aggressive attacks and rotations and boost positions, providing tactical benefits. For other map layout features, it requires strong team coordination and vertical combat elements are considerably common. Long sightlines that favor sniper rifles are a special feature. Communication needs to be clear, incorporating proper callouts.

Key Locations and Callouts

Effective communication plays a significant role in Cobblestone. Some of the essential callouts for the map include T Spawn, Statue, Patio, T Ramp, Catwalk, A Long, Mid, Snake, D Lore, Upper Halls, Lower Halls, Cubby, and A Site.

History and Evolution of Cobblestone Map

Cobblestone map has experienced several changes throughout its history. The map’s first versions experienced a solid waver towards being T-sided, mainly as areas such as Drop were virtually unfeasible for CTs to hold successfully. However, over time, attempts have been made to adjust the design to create better equilibrium between the teams. This progression mirrors Valve’s ongoing efforts to maintain a level of competition while preserving the unique character and strategic depth of the Cobblestone map.
