Johan “N0tail” Sundstein Returns to OG as Coach

OG’s Dota 2 team recently announced the appointment of Johan “N0tail” Sundstein as their new coach. After Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann’s recent departure, the experienced former player is stepping into the role for the first time since the 2022 ESL One Stockholm Major. N0tail’s return is a momentous change for the team, as he has not been actively involved in three years.

N0tail is not a new face to the OG community. As the founder of the OG organization, he played for the team from 2015 to 2021. Prior to establishing OG, N0tail showcased his skills in well-known teams like Fnatic, Team Secret, and Cloud9. He is of Danish and Faeroese descent and was born on October 8, 1993.

N0tail’s Return Follows Departure of Former Coach KheZu

The role of the coach became vacant when KheZu decided to step down from the position on May 5, 2025. This was confirmed by an official announcement by the OG organization. It can be inferred that N0tail’s return substitutes KheZu’s leave.

Potential Impact of N0tail’s Return

N0tail’s reappointment is expected to significantly reshape team dynamics, as he moves from being a player to taking on a mentorship role for OG’s Dota 2 team. With a decade’s worth of experience and several victories under his belt, there’s hope his insights could help the team persevere through challenges.

Among these, a significant challenge the team faces is often referred to as “The TI Curse”. It’s an observed pattern where teams that win the International often see a dip in their performance following their victories. Having experienced this first-hand, N0tail’s return might provide the perspective needed to help the team navigate this post-championship hurdle.

Recent Restructuring in the OG Squad

In late March 2025, N0tail and KheZu revealed some important changes within the team. They also shed some light on the future course of the squad. The timing of these updates hints at possible restructuring within OG. This presumptive restructuring could be a part of the reason behind KheZu’s departure as coach and N0tail’s re-entry into the role. Though the exact implications are yet to be seen, this significant change is anticipated as an interesting shift in the team’s dynamic.
