Patch 7.38 ‘Wandering Waters’
A notable recent update was the 7.38 ‘Wandering Waters’ gameplay update, which was publicized on February 19, 2025. This crucial patch implemented several game alterations, including:
Map Changes
The gameplay map underwent a considerable transformation, broadening the river that bifurcates the map into the south and north, culminating in the formation of extra water streams. Heroes traveling alongside the direction of these streams receive acceleration towards their easy lane. Importantly, heroes moving against the river’s current aren’t slowed down.
New Mechanics
This gameplay update introduced fresh resources: Madstone Currency, which is used for creating peculiar neutral items. Players accumulate Madstones when they clear neutral creep camps. Craftable Neutral Items were also introduced, enabling players to create neutral items that consist of an Artifact, infusing new abilities, and an Enchantment that confers passive stat bonuses.
Roshan Changes
The location of Roshan’s lair was shifted to the river, adjacent to the rune spots. Now, Roshan spawns in the southern cave at the onset of matches and moves with the day/night changes, plowing through the map and displacing any units in its path.
Community Response
Players within the Dota 2 community have given mostly positive feedback regarding the 7.38 patch. They appreciate the new mechanics and the alterations in gameplay.
If you’re keen to know about any upcoming patch announcements, some signs point towards Valve possibly releasing new updates shortly. However, no confirmation of the official release date is available yet.
