Spirit Blossom Beyond: Season 2, 2025 in League of Legends
After an intense Noxian start to the year, League of Legends has plans for a shift to Spirit Blossom for Season 2 of 2025. The new season is poised to bring a different feel to the game, as revealed by Riot Games in their latest Dev Update. Features of the Spirit Blossom season include an Atakhan rework, adjustments to Grubs and Rift Herald, alongside fresh, intriguing details.
Details of Season 2: Spirit Blossom Beyond
The following highlights detail the major features to expect in the upcoming season:
Spirit Blossom Theme and Visual Update
Season 2 dials back to Ionia’s enchanting and calm aesthetics, utilizing the Spirit Blossom theme. New visuals for Summoner’s Rift will involve elements of a magical forest in shades of purple and blue, reflecting the Ionian ambiance. Champions like Ashe, Irelia, Zyra, and others will showcase new Spirit Blossom skins, with even non-Ionian champions getting Spirit Blossom-themed skins to expand the lineup.
Gameplay Updates
Atakhan, an influential jungle objective, will now be exclusively available in its Thornbound form, replacing its previous dual forms (Voracious and Ruinous) to enhance gameplay and better balance. Defeating Atakhan will bring map-wide benefits such as collecting all unclaimed Roses and turning Bloody Petals into Spirit Petals for enhanced effects. A new “Spiritual Purification” buff would provide extra combat advantages.
Rift Herald will spawn earlier, at 15 minutes, while Void Grubs will spawn once per game later on. Rift Herald will no longer have its “Shelly’s Gaze” mechanic, making encounters more straightforward. The bounty system will be revamped to favor a team trailing behind, to offer a chance for a comeback without punishing initial successes.
Junglers will have Smite automatically assigned, while Supports will start with the World Atlas item, to prevent in-game mistakes and enhance role efficiency. Behavioral systems will detect and handle griefing, inting, and unsportsmanlike behavior for a healthier game setting. A new champion, Yunara, will join the roster later in the season, adding to the Spirit Blossom narrative.
New Game Mode: Brawl
The Brawl mode will provide an alternative to the traditional Summoner’s Rift gameplay, focusing more on champion combat than on objectives. This fast-paced, team-based mode takes place on a distinctive map in Bandle City.
Collaborations and Events
The season will also feature various collaborations and events. There will be a partnership with the festival “Stay in Bloom,” exhibiting performances by artists like Dabin and Said The Sky. The collaboration with New York-based designer Yumin Ha will result in the creation of Spirit Blossom-inspired clothing.
Release Schedule
The second season and its updates are set to launch in Summer 2025 with Patch 25.09, bringing in both visual and mechanical enhancements to the Rift.
Additional Updates
The season will also see improvements in kill streak mechanics and the death screen with reduced “gray screen” duration. There will also be audio enhancements, including new sounds for multi-kill scenarios, inspired by Valorant.
The combination of thematic depth, improved gameplay flexibility, and improved player interactions will augment the fresh and enriched experience for League of Legends players this season.
