Introduction for the Latest Update: Patch 25.09
League of Legends Patch 25.09 was officially launched on April 30, 2025. This new patch does not only mark the start of the second season, but it also underwent considerable adjustments that are bound to affect the champions and in-game system. Very interestingly, this season’s opening did not necessitate a rank reset, enabling players to directly experience the effects of the applied champion and system modifications.
Alterations in the Abilities of Various Champions
In the latest patch, several champions were enhanced to optimize their abilities and gameplay suitability. This includes Annie, Ashe, K’Sante, Leona, Morgana, Orianna and Shen. In particular, Leona and Morgana’s improvements have significantly increased their appeal and usefulness, especially in comparison to other support champions. Moreover, Orianna’s upgraded capabilities are seemingly designed with an aim to bolster her competitiveness in professional gameplay. Concurrently, some champions also underwent negative adjustments or nerfs to level out their performance. These include Gwen, Kalista, Naafiri and Yorick with modified abilities and characteristics.
Modifications to System and Game Processes
Notably, there are several updates in terms of the game’s system and operation. This involved modifications in the rules for lane swap detection alongside changes in the availability and impact of void monsters in the games. Additionally, there were updates to dying mechanics, making it more interactive with color enhancements and a spectate user interface, allowing players to monitor their surroundings while waiting to spawn again. There are other alterations involving the bounty methodology, increased prowess of the Ignite ability, changes in the Boots upgrades, and a reformulation of the effects of Biscuits on the fights.
Season 2 Commencement and Changes
On April 30, 2025, Season 2 was officially rolled out with Patch 25.09. Since there was no reset in ranked progression, players enjoyed the transition without the need to go through placement matches again. However, the awaited Kill Streak Sound Effects (SFX) was postponed. This will be eventually released in an upcoming patch instead.
