A New Chapter for League of Legends: Transition from Noxus to Ionia

The second season of League of Legends is on the horizon, and it is shifting its focus from Noxus to Ionia. This change will see the game diving deeper into the Spirit Blossom universe with new and exciting updates. The Spirit Blossom universe will be expanded with new skins for the characters, gameplay modifications, and wider changes to improve the gaming experience. The entry of the new season will be marked with the release of patch 25.09 on April 30th, which will also release a fresh Battle Pass and a host of new skins linked to the Spirit Blossom theme.

Season 2 Spirit Blossom Skins

The upcoming lineup of Spirit Blossom skins for Season 2 are as follows:

  • Spirit Blossom Ashe (Legendary)
  • Spirit Blossom Irelia (Legendary)
  • Spirit Blossom Bard
  • Spirit Blossom Varus
  • Spirit Blossom Zyra
  • Spirit Blossom Ivern (Free on Battle Pass)
  • Prestige Spirit Blossom Lux (Available through the Act 1 paid pass)

These skins ascertain the Spirit Blossom’s hold on Ionian folklore inspirations, with both Ionian and non-Ionian champions being portrayed as mythical entities within Ionian tales. Beautiful preview images of all the new Spirit Blossom skins have also been released.

A Peek Into Other Cosmetics and Skins

The variety of standalone skins being introduced in Season 2 can extend existing lines or generate new mini-themes. For instance, Pool Party Twitch is one such skin that can be accessed through the Act 1 paid pass. All skins that accompany Season 2 will be available through direct purchase or the battle pass.

Changes to Gameplay and Features

Updates include changes to the Summoner’s Rift map, the introduction of a new game mode named “Brawl”, and relevant quality of life enhancements. The map will be altered to fit the Spirit Blossom’s overall artistry, and the Brawl mode will add an action-packed 5v5 game mode set in Bandle City. Other updates include improved detection for griefing and inting, champion select changes for junglers and supports, and additions to the spectator UI.

Continuation of Narrative and Thematic Direction

Riot Games wishes to expand the Spirit Blossom universe, continuing the use of Ionian folklore. The skins, though designed for non-Ionian champions, are seen as mythical figures passed down through Ionian folklore. After a Noxian-focused Season 1, the return to Ionian themes offers a refreshing narrative and aesthetic contrast.

On the Horizon: New Champion and Upcoming Content

Season 2 also brings with it a new champion named Yunara who is scheduled for release in Act 2. In addition, another pro player is set to be inducted into the Hall of Legends in May. These updates make Season 2 full of exciting new features for players to explore and enjoy in the world of Runeterra.
