Cloud9 and Team Liquid participation in the 2025 KeSPA Cup
Rowdy esports fans were taken aback when it was revealed that renowned LCS teams, Cloud9 and Team Liquid, will be participating in the 2025 KeSPA Cup. The revelation didn’t make things any easier for them, considering all LCK teams are also attending the tournament. The competition grew tougher when the Cup’s groupings were made public.
Team Liquid found themselves pitted against the new T1 squad. The off-season came to an exciting start when news broke that Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong was departing T1, after securing three consecutive Worlds titles with the team.
Peyz Placed in T1
In recent developments, T1 now houses Peyz, a 19-year-old Korean ADC, as their new bot laner. Peyz is set to join forces with support player Keria. This significant transition comes for the young player who was formerly with Gen.G. At his tender age, Peyz has already made three notches on his belt as an LCK champion, and as an MSI champion – accomplishments earned when he played for Gen.G at just 17 and 18 years old.
Peyz has built an impressive record within the competitive sphere. His accolades include being named the 2023 LCK Rookie of the Year, being MVP in the Spring 2023 LCK finals, and winning the LCK Player of the Split in Summer 2024. One of his hard-won records includes having the most kills in a single international League of Legends event match. He earned this with 28 kills in Game 2 of the MSI 2024 Finals.
The 2025 KeSPA Cup
The 2025 KeSPA Cup is scheduled to run from December 6 to December 14 in 2025. The tournament will host 14 teams divided into three groups. The proceedings will include 10 local LCK teams, in addition to international contributors Cloud9 and Team Liquid from the LCS, and teams representing Japan and Vietnam.
The tournament will undergo a Group Stage that will last from December 6 to December 9. Teams will face each other in single round-robin Bo1 matches. This will be subsequently followed by a Knockout Stage from December 11 to December 14, featuring a double-elimination bracket with Bo3 matches. The exception to this format will be the Grand Finals that will be composed of Bo5.
Among others, the LCK teams that will be vying for the top prize in the tournament are T1 and KT Rolster. Both of these teams have recently competed in the Worlds final.
