Bombsite A, located between the Courtyard and Bombsite B, and close to the Counter-Terrorist spawn, puts the Counter-Terrorists at an early-round advantage. The site is compact and is more suitable for close-quarter combat with rifles and SMGs.

Bombsite B is an open site with minimal cover, making it crucial for sniper duels. Terrorists generally prioritize securing the sniper positions before planting the bomb. Smoke grenades and other forms of utility prove vital for successful plant executes in this area.

The Back Halls and secondary routes connect Bombsite B, the Courtyard, and the Terrorist spawn. These narrow, dark corridors foster close-range encounters and ambushes, increasing the challenge for teams attempting to rotate or push through.

Weapon Strategy

The vast sightlines and open spaces of Cobblestone make it well-suited for sniper rifles. There are three main sniper nests in the map, each offering different benefits. For example, the highest tower offers significant cover and an extensive field of view while lower towers offer more escape options, albeit with lowered protection.

Weapon selection on the Cobblestone map should factor in location. The Courtyard and towers favor sniper rifles and assault rifles due to their long sightlines. The enclosed Bombsite A leans towards rifles and SMGs, while the open Bombsite B favors sniper rifles. Lastly, the Back Halls offer close-quarters combat, prompting selections of shotguns and SMGs.

Defensive Strategy for Counter-Terrorists

Counter-Terrorists need to understand that map domination requires strategic positioning, especially at the restrictive B-site defense needing careful on-the-spot positioning. The tree-boost technique offers an off-angle view and functional cover, apart from providing a fallback position. It also stays relatively safe from flashes aimed to support B entry from Long.

Fast rotation is essential on Cobblestone and has a significant bearing on the outcome of the game. If the Terrorist team secures a site and takes time executing their strategy, Counter-Terrorists should ideally flank from the opposite side while maintaining the buddy system for possible exchanges.

Strategic Insights

Effective play on Cobblestone requires an in-depth understanding of the map, smart utility use, and solid team coordination. The Counter-Terrorist team should use Bombsite A as a buffer for slowing down Terrorist advances and concentrate their efforts on the less easily held Bombsite B.

Teams adept at unpredictable positioning, which includes the strategic use of boosts and off-angles, acquire significant advantages. Cobblestone rewards teamwork and a good understanding of the map contributing directly to tactical superiority, while isolated plays usually end in penalties.
