League of Legends 2026 Updates
The League of Legends 2026 update brings new game elements and improvements, including the introduction of Demacia Season 1, a range of new items, and changes to game mechanics in Summoner’s Rift.
Demacia Season 1
Demacia Season 1 forms the first League of Legends season for the year 2026. Embracing an engaging theme, it aims to enhance player experience and game dynamics.
Role Quests
One of the highlights of the 2026 update is the introduction of Role Quests for top, mid, and ADC roles. These quests serve a similar purpose to the existing jungle pet evolutions and support item upgrades, offering unique power progression according to the role you play.
The most significant quest is designed for top laners. Developed to counteract the historically low agency of this position, this quest features an upper level cap that exceeds the standard maximum, enhanced XP from all sources, and an improved Teleport that scales with your Champion Select. Progress in this quest can be earned through CSing, battling, getting towers in your lane, and helping to secure objectives.
Separate quests have been established for mid and ADC roles, granting unique rewards that highlight the strengths of each position. Much like the top lane quest, advancement is based on lane-focused activities and participation in game objectives.
With the inception of Role Quests, the previously used Lane Swap Detection mechanic, which was deployed to manage professional lane swapping, has been deemed unnecessary and has thus been removed.
Changes in Ranked System
The 2026 update introduces several changes to the ranked system. These include:
- Flex MMR Adjustment: Flex queue MMR will be more akin to Solo/Duo MMR to ensure fairer Flex games.
- Autofill Improvements: The autofill system will aim to accurately match autofilled players according to their roles. If role matching is not feasible, it will aim to match the number of autofilled players in a game.
- Aegis of Valor: A new system that rewards players for achieving a C mastery score or higher in autofilled games will either offer double LP for wins or mitigate losses.
- Dodge Penalties: A new policy will discourage players from dodging to avoid being autofilled, with Master+ tier games counting dodges as a full loss.
- Faster Queue Times: The time spent in Champion Select will be reduced to enable players to join games more swiftly.
- Apex Duoing: Apex-tier games will once again allow duoing.
This 2026 update promises to bring a fresh dynamic to League of Legends and enhance player experience significantly.
