BLAST Slam V Tournament Summary

The BLAST Slam V Dota 2 tournament recently witnessed the conclusion of its Play-In stage. The event, which features a total of 12 participating teams, began on November 25 and will continue until December 7, 2025. Several significant moments transpired as the last round concluded and strategized the slotting for the upcoming playoffs.

Understanding the Tournament Format

BLAST Slam V, a Tier 1 tournament featuring a $1,000,000 USD prize pool, follows a layered structure. Initially, all 12 teams battled in the Group Stage. This was a round-robin format where each team played against all other teams once. This stage lasted from November 25 to 29, 2025, resulting in the two top-performing teams, Team Falcons and Tundra Esports, advancing directly to the playoffs’ semifinals.

Subsequent placements pursued further competition in the Play-In stage, where success led to the quarterfinals and failure resulted in elimination. The four teams who landed in the bottom of the group faced a Last Chance Playoff to stay in the tournament. Lastly, the tournament will culminate in the playoffs, comprised of a series of best-of-three single-elimination matches leading up to a best-of-five grand finale.

Key Moments in the Play-In Stage

Several noteworthy milestones marked the Play-In stage of the competition. One particularly eventful sequence was followed by Xtreme Gaming. Despite an impressive early performance laced with promise, their journey met an unfortunate end at the hands of Yandex. Having defeated Tearlaments earlier, Xtreme Gaming lost 2-1 to Yandex in a nail-biting best-of-three series.

Another key event of the play-in stage was OG’s dominating performance. Consistently a formidable contender, OG eradicated HEROIC in their clash, with Yopaj delivering highly-skilled performance leading to a 2-0 scoreline. MOUZ, another team, engaged in a strenuous match with the Yakult Brothers, with both teams fighting rigorously. But MOUZ’s superior late-game tactics ultimately gave them the upper hand, helping them secure their spot in the next stage.

Current Tournament Standings and Future Outlook

Following the eventful group and play-in stages, the current standings show Team Falcons and Tundra leading the scoreboards, both with impressive 10-1 records. The middle sections feature MOUZ, Team Yandex, and Team OG, with Xtreme Gaming landing on the 9th slot after their elimination from the play-ins.

The remainder of the tournament carries on until December 7, 2025, with the surviving teams fighting for the colossal prize pool in the upcoming playoff rounds.
