Dota 2 patch 7.40 Arrives with Significant Changes
Dota 2 patch 7.40 has been released following a long break in updates. The new patch brings about major alterations to the way multiple heroes function, introduces new seasonal Neutral items, and ramps up the danger of Wisdom Shrines. By digging into the latest update, we’ve uncovered notable changes that deserve attention.
Key Alterations in Dota 2 Patch 7.40
A few heroes, including Slark, Lone Druid, and Treant Protector, have gone through significant transformations in Dota 2’s latest update. Furthermore, extensive changes in maps, coupled with comprehensive balance updates to gameplay mechanics, items, and heroes, have also been introduced.
Lone Druid Modifications
Lone Druid, or Sylla, has received intricate changes in the new patch. Included are new abilities like Entangle, bear enhancements, and a new talent tree for the Spirit Bear. Entangle allows Sylla to root enemies after five attacks, marked by a visual attack counter. The newly revamped talent tree for the Spirit Bear has expanded its progression path options. It’s noteworthy that the Aghanim’s Scepter now enables Lone Druid to apply a consistent 5-second root on its targets.
Introduction of a New Hero: Largo
Patch 7.40 has introduced a new hero, known as Largo. Largo’s unique Ultimate ability, Amphibian Rhapsody, resembles a rhythm game where players can gain buffs like spell amplification, movement speed, slow resistance, and healing to allies, simply by strumming to the beat. An additional innate ability further extends these buff durations for him and his teammates. Although the upgrades through Aghanim’s Scepter and Shard are available for Largo, Facets have yet to be introduced.
Other Significant Hero Modifications
- Slark: Essence Shift becomes an innate ability and gains the Saltwater Shiv, which reduces the health regeneration and movement speed of opponents.
- Treant Protector: Leech Seed has been reworked, Overgrowth upgraded, promoting a more aggressive, frontline method of gameplay.
Changes to Maps and Gameplay
Several revamps have been made in the maps, such as the sinking of Wisdom Rune areas into the terrain, narrowing of sidelanes/jungles, and repositioning of Watchers. A new feature, Defender’s Gate, has been added to the bases as backdoors. Overall, these updates have major implications on both professional and amateur-level gameplay, particularly with respect to hero balance, item refreshment, and map strategy.
Alterations in Items
A multitude of changes has been made to both regular and neutral items. Heaven’s Halberd, for instance, can now only be disarmed with a strong dispel and has a fixed duration of 3 seconds with a 20-seconds cooldown. Several neutral items, like Weighted Dice, Idol of Scree’Auk, Riftshadow Prism, have been introduced while some, such as Helm of the Undying, Sister’s Shroud, Pyrrhic Cloak, have been retired.
