Plan about new additions to Overwatch

Overwatch has made it known that there will be 10 new Heroes launched in 2026. The debut of the first set which consists of five Heroes will be part of Season 1’s events, scheduled for February 10. The schedule for the release of the remaining batch of five heroes is spread throughout the year, an indication that each new Hero will be introduced in its season.

New Heroes in Overwatch 2

Year 2026 will also see the expansion of Overwatch 2 with the addition of three new heroes. This follows the release pattern Overwatch has been known for, scheduling for three new heroes to join the fray every year. Season 22, 24, and 26 are expected to feature these new heroes. This pattern was also followed in the past, like in 2025, when Freja, Wuyang, and Vendetta joined the game.

Expectations about new Heroes

There’s been considerable talk which suggests Anran Ye, Wuyang’s elder sister hailing from Wuxing University in China, may be one of the new additions. She was a prominent character in the recent short narrative titled “The Invitation” by Winston’s voice actor. The story centered on her and Wuyang receiving invitations to join Overwatch. Anran Ye was also featured prominently in Wuyang’s “Elemental Kin” cinematic trailer and in a Christmas art post as the sole non-playable character. Furthermore, voice lines related to her ultimate move were leaked, fueling the speculation that she may be introduced as Hero 46 in Season 22.

Other potential Heroes

Several other possibilities have also been hinted. Here’s a brief list:

• Emre Sarioglu: Once an Overwatch agent, he is now a rogue member of Talon. He has also been spotlighted in Freja’s cinematic trailer, backstory comic, and a new Overwatch 2 comic reveal. Indications suggest his arrival in early 2026, possibly connected with the Spotlight event or Season 22/24.
• A Helix Agent or MEKA Squad member, perhaps an ally of D.Va. This speculation has arisen from clues found in Busan Easter eggs and other hints.
• Maximilien: The Omnic Talon executive has been frequently appearing since late 2024.
• An unknown “oddball” hero whose arrival was reinforced by developers responding to community inquiries. Specific details are yet unknown but anticipated soon.

Spotlight Event 2026

The Overwatch Spotlight event in 2026 is likely to announce the new heroes including potentially Talon-related ones. However, it’s important to note that there are no specific roles or abilities confirmed for these characters yet. And while Blizzard, in the past, has blended new characters with those entrenched in the game’s lore, these potential additions remain speculation based on leaked information and various teasers.
