Karma functions as a mage-support character who excels when the tempo of the game is high. She benefits from frequent spell use, correct positioning, and the intelligent use of her abilities. Furthermore, her ability set allows her to use advanced skills such as Mantra effectively during matches.

Being one of the versatile support champions in LoL, Karma specializes in shielding, poke damage, and team support through her Mantra-empowered abilities. Her win rate is usually around 50% in high-level matches, according to Patch 16.1 data. Furthermore, Karma unlocks her ultimate ability, Mantra, at level 1, providing opportunities to play aggressively right from the beginning.

Her strengths include high poke damage with Mantra-Q, team shields and movement speed boost with Mantra-E, and consistent utility in the mid-to-late game. As a balance to her strengths, she has a few weaknesses as well. These include her being squishy and vulnerable without her Focused Resolve ability and lacking a strong level 6 power spike since she already has her ultimate ability available from the start of the game.

Builds

In Patch 16.1, for the support role, the top builds tend to prioritize enchanter items. Two top builds for Karma include a core of Dream Maker, Ionian Boots of Lucidity, and Moonstone Renewer. Another build with similar core items and Sorcery/Resolve runes has won more than 50.03% of matches. The recommended runes are Summon Aery (keystone), Manaflow Band, Transcendence, Gathering Storm(primary); Font of Life, Revitalize (secondary). Ability Haste/Adaptive/Health Shards are preferred. Most players use Flash + Heal for their summoner abilities, and the usual skill order is Max Q > E > W.

Matchups

Karma performs well against champions who rely heavily on poke damage or are often isolated. Some of the best matchups for Karma include Mel, Ashe, Shaco, Pantheon, Vel’Koz, however, she struggles against Braum, Sona, and Nautilus.

Playstyle

In the early game (0-15 min), she’s capable of aggressive poke with Mantra-Q, which is helpful for zoning enemies. By mid-game (15-25 min), she’s using Mantra-E for peel and poking grouped enemies, and her utility becomes apparent late in the game (25+ min).

Karma’s key tricks include employing combinations like Mantra > Q for poke damage or Mantra > E for engage/peel. Additionally, her Mantra should be used flexibly since passive reduces its cooldown on ability hits. However, without Focused Resolve, Karma should play cautiously, making sure to exploit Mantra from level 1 for mana-free spam.
