Mastering Yoru: Abilities and Strategies for Valorant’s Elusive Duelist

Introduction to Yoru

Yoru, the fifth Duelist of Valorant protocol, is geared to break down enemy defenses by teleporting behind them. Known for his complexity, Yoru proves to be a tough agent to master in the game. Prevalently, the challenge in extracting value from his kit results in him being underpicked in professional Valorant matches.

Abilities of Yoru

Yoru, the duelist agent in Valorant, is designed for inducing disruption and confusion among enemy teams. His array of abilities allows him to manipulate dimensions:

Gatecrash (E) is Yoru’s signature teleportation ability, allowing the player to send Gatecrash forward with a left-click or set it at a desired point with a right-click. Repressing the key moves the player to Gatecrash’s former location. Keep in mind that the activation of the ability is not a silent process and can alert nearby enemies. Gatecrash can remain hidden from enemies until they come close by and can also be destroyed by them. Additionally, the player can fool enemies by using the F key to activate only the teleport sound while remaining at their original position.

Fakeout (C), Yoru’s decoy ability, can be tactically used before teleporting to disorient enemies. Moreover, it has been improved to effectively generate confusion in certain situations.

Dimensional Drift (X), Yoru’s ultimate ability, grants him invisibility and invulnerability, while allowing him to wear a mask that lets him see across dimensions. Upon activation, Yoru enters his dimension and becomes unnoticeable and invincible to enemies. During the ultimate, other abilities remain usable; however, shooting isn’t allowed.

Strategic Applications

Scouting with Dimensional Drift: Yoru’s ultimate is extremely advantageous for gathering information. It can be activated to explore the map undetected and spot hidden enemies. Proper communication with teammates is necessary to effectively deliver enemy positions. Once enemies are located, their positions can be relayed back to the team to organise strategic attacks.

Entry and Space Creation: Yoru is exceptionally skilled at inducing chaos and deceiving enemies for creating space. He can blind enemies before making entry and use Fakeout prior to teleporting for causing confusion. His abilities enable him to move quickly across the map using Gatecrash.

Team Play Dynamics: Yoru’s effectiveness is largely contingent on his role within a team. When played alone, predictions about his moves are easy to make and counter. However, when used as a follow-up agent after teammates have initiated attacks, Yoru becomes optimally disruptive. His best function is to create openings through confusion as a space-making duelist.

To truly excel as Yoru, players need to grasp his technical abilities along with their smart application. His playstyle is centred around deceiving enemies, repositioning swiftly, and stirring chaos that offers tactical benefits to him and his team.
